Download the Aarogya Setu App to combat against COVID-19 Crisis

In response to the UGC advisory issued to the academic fraternity to ensure adherence to preventive and precautionary measures to fight against the existing COVID-19 crisis, it is informed to all the students, teachers, and non-teaching staff to download the Aarogya Setu App developed by the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India. Android and Apple users can use the links given below to download the app:

The Aarogya Setu App is a mobile application developed by the Government of India to connect essential health services with the people to combat the prevailing Coronavirus crisis. According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the app is available in 11 different languages and the design ensures privacy. The App will enable the Government to take timely action to assess the risk of the spread of Coronavirus infection and thus, isolation can be ensured whenever required. The state-of-the-art technology helps in encrypting the personal data of the user and further, such data is secured for facilitating the necessary medical intervention.

How does the Aarogya Setu App work?

With the help of Bluetooth and GPS generated social graph, this App tracks and informs you about your interaction with someone who could have tested Coronavirus positive. You can also invite your friends and family members to install the app. You just have to:

• Install the App
• Switch on the Bluetooth & GPS
• Set location sharing to ‘Always’

If you are unknowingly near to someone, who could have tested Coronavirus positive, you will be alerted immediately. In addition to this, these alerts will also involve instructions through an easy chat on how to self-isolate yourself and what actions to take in case you develop symptoms that require the essential medical help and support. The App not only helps in proactively reaching out to and informing the users about the risks, relevant advisory and best practices but also enhances the initiatives of the Department of Health, Government of India to avoid the further spread of Coronavirus.
